This nursery watercolour painting was inspired by elements from both my own childhood, and then later as I had my own babies. My favourite book as a child was Miss Suzy: the tale of a lovely squirrel who kept a very tidy house, with a moss carpet, a twig broom, and a firefly lamp. When my first child was born, I was given a beautiful Beatrix Potter bowl - I still have it, nearly thirty years later, and I’m still inspired by her beautiful artwork. Lastly, my mother made me a gorgeous cross stitch piece with this saying on it after the birth of my second son. When I think of my mom circa 1970’s she wore a housecoat similar to the one I’ve designed here. All these things and more moved me to create this, and I hope it resonates with you too!
